Home, What Is Lupus?

Lupus Awareness- Day 26

“People with lupus are no more likely to develop cancer than people in the general population. However, people who have received certain chemotherapy drugs do carry the added risk of developing cancer sometime in later life.”

I think it’s a shame that the very same medications used to make us feel better, is the very same medication causing further sickness and or added risks of developing something much worse-CANCER! As if Lupus wasn’t enough.

Methotrexate is a commonly used chemotherapy drug used to manage lupus symptoms BUT can also be the cause of a lupie developing cancer later on in life. I encourage everyone to get to KNOW LUPUS! Know what meds will work for you, know what meds are absolutely necessary to take and which ones you can do without.

And if you haven’t already, be sure to check out my post about how Lupus and Chemotherapy go hand in hand.
